Fractional CFO for owner-operated service businesses
You built the business.Let’s get the numbers to make sense.
We work with service business owners who are growing faster than their books can keep up with. The first step is a 15 minute call with Julia, who runs our operations. There’s nothing for you to prepare.
Sound familiar
Most of the owners we talk to aren’t in trouble
They’re running a real business with real revenue. What they don’t have is a clear picture of it. The bank balance swings hard from one week to the next, and nobody can say with much confidence which jobs are actually making money.
So decisions get made on gut feel, because the numbers show up too late to help.
- You had a strong month and still had to sweat payroll.
- The books get closed every month, but nobody walks you through what they mean.
- You want to hire, or buy another truck, and you’re not sure the business can carry it.
- Tax time turns into a surprise every year.
- You’ve been meaning to raise prices for a year and you don’t know by how much.
If two or three of those landed, we should talk.
How this works
Fifteen minutes with Julia, and she takes it from there
-
01
You talk to Julia first
Julia runs our operations and she takes the first call with every owner who reaches out. She’ll ask where the business is, what’s been keeping you up, and what you’ve already tried. Most of the 15 minutes is you talking.
-
02
She points you at the right next step
Sometimes that’s bookkeeping. Sometimes it’s a tax person, or six more months of growth before a CFO makes sense. Julia will tell you straight, and she isn’t going to sell you something you don’t need.
-
03
She sets up the conversation with Justin
Julia gets you on his calendar, gathers whatever we’d need to look at, and hands off what you told her. Justin comes in already up to speed, so you’re not starting the whole conversation over from the top. That call is free too.
There’s no screen share and no proposal waiting at the end of any of it. We’d rather tell you we’re not the right fit than take on work we can’t do well.
The team
Who you’ll be talking to
Cash Flow Copilot is built around real relationships — people you’ll actually get to know, backed by a full team behind the scenes.
Director of Operations
Julia
Julia runs the day to day and takes the first call with every owner who reaches out. She knows the work well enough to tell you honestly whether a CFO is what you need, and she’s the one who keeps things from falling through the cracks once you’re a client.

Fractional CFO and owner
Justin Boyd
Justin does the CFO work himself. Forecasting, pricing, budgets, the monthly conversation about what the numbers mean. He’s based in Cape Coral, Florida, and he’s spent most of his career around home service businesses.
The work
What a fractional CFO actually does
Your bookkeeper keeps the record of what already happened. A CFO’s job starts after that. We take the numbers you already have and turn them into decisions you can make with some confidence.
Cash flow forecasting
Knowing what the account looks like six weeks out, while there’s still time to do something about it.
Pricing and job costing
Figuring out what each type of job really costs you, so pricing stops being a guess.
Budgets and targets
A number to aim at, and a monthly check on whether we hit it.
Hiring and equipment decisions
Running the math before you commit to a payroll line or a truck payment.
Monthly financial reviews
A real conversation about your financials, in plain language, with somebody who knows your business.
Tax planning coordination
Working alongside your CPA so April isn’t the first time anyone looks at the year.
Day to day
What working together is like
You’re not going to feel like you’re sitting in an accounting firm. We answer the phone, we learn your business over time, and when something odd shows up in the numbers we bring it to you before it turns into a problem.
Justin leads every engagement personally, so the person doing your analysis is the same person sitting with you every month. Julia keeps everything else moving, which is why things don’t get dropped between conversations.
We’re not going to hand you a spreadsheet and call it advice.
“I always was really good about making money. I know how to make money well, but how much of it I kept was questionable. We didn’t even realize that some of our services weren’t even profitable, and Justin designed a spreadsheet to help me with my pricing. He is definitely part of my leadership team, and together we make decisions.”
Who we work with
Mostly service businesses, mostly owner-run
Most of our clients are in home services. Pressure washing, window cleaning, janitorial, residential cleaning, HVAC. A few aren’t in home services at all.
What they have in common is an owner who is coachable, cares about the business, and would rather bring in somebody who does this all day than figure it out alone at 11pm.
Questions
Before you book
Why am I talking to Julia and not Justin?
Justin leads every engagement personally, so his calendar is the tightest thing we have. Julia talks to every owner who reaches out, which means you get a real conversation this week instead of waiting three weeks for a slot. She’s also the one who sets up the call with Justin and gathers what we’d need to look at, so that conversation starts somewhere useful instead of at the beginning.
Are both calls really free?
Yes. Fifteen minutes with Julia, and the longer conversation with Justin after that. We’re not going to turn either one into a 90 minute sales process.
Do I need to send financials first?
No. There’s nothing to prepare. If we keep talking after the first call, we’ll get into the numbers then.
I already have a bookkeeper. Is that a problem?
Not at all, and if you like the one you have, keep them. Sometimes we work alongside a client’s existing bookkeeper, and sometimes clients move that work over to us. We can sort that out later.
What if my business is too small for this?
Ask anyway. If you’re earlier than what we typically take on, Julia will tell you straight and point you toward something that fits better.
Do you only work with businesses in Florida?
We’re based in Cape Coral, and we work with owners around the country. Most of the work happens by phone and video either way.
